Benjamin C. White
Mr. White is passionate about helping his clients achieve success in the marketplace. Mr. White provides the legal framework for lone entrepreneurs, start-ups, and multi-national corporations to protect their intellectual property efficiently and to then monetize it, which enables his clients to focus on bringing their products to market and continuing to innovate.
Mr. White is one of the leading young IP lawyers in the U.S. and was recognized by his peers and Connecticut Super Lawyers as a “Rising Star” in both 2014 and 2015. He practices in all areas of intellectual property law, with an emphasis on patent prosecution, investigation, and litigation. Mr. White has a broad technical background that is rooted in physics and that has included work with stealth technology in military jet engines and radar design. As a result, Mr. White practices in a variety of technical fields and product categories: medical devices, automotive parts, sails, shoes, kitchen appliances, and internet and software innovations.
Mr. White’s patent procurement work helps his clients to focus resources on valuable improvements that will actually improve each client’s market position. He gets involved in all stages of patent procurement, from drafting patent applications to directing and arguing appeals to the Patent Trial and Appeal Board and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
Mr. White also relishes his work to help monetize his clients’ intellectual property and to protect his clients from infringement allegations. Mr. White is experienced in all stages of litigation in the federal courts, including representing both owners of intellectual property and accused infringers in jury and bench trials. Mr. White also successfully steers his clients through the complicated tasks of investigating and circumventing potential patent conflicts associated with launching a new product. Mr. White’s expertise in product clearance allows his clients to bring new products to market with confidence.
Before becoming an attorney, Mr. White worked on stealth technology for military jet engines at Pratt & Whitney and designed military radars at Raytheon. Mr. White is an avid sailor in and around Long Island Sound, skis as much as he can in the Eastern and the Western U.S., and is on a quest (now over a decade long) to read each of the Modern Library’s 100 Best Novels.
